Trees Recommended for Mountainous Areas
Live 'down the hill?' Consult with a California certified nurseryman for expert advise.

Want vigorous, healthy trees? Consider these.
Trees native to your area will be best suited for the climate and soils found there. It is important to remember
that "native" means more than "same species." It means trees grown from seeds collected from local native
trees. Additionally, environmental conditions vary from area to area, and create micro-climates within which local
plants have adapted over many generations. For these reasons it is best to replant trees grown from native
seeds collected in your general area and within 1,000 vertical feet of your location. Once established, native
trees do not need supplemental watering, while some non-native species require watering to survive and thrive.
